Honoring Service, Building Community American Legion Bunt-Brewer Post 165 traces its proud history back to World War I. Named in tribute to two Hometown Heroes—Fred Bunt, who gave his life in service aboard a transport plane, and Kenneth Brewer, who was killed in action—the Post stands as a living memorial to their sacrifice.
Founded by local veterans who sought to honor their fallen brothers, Post 165 has served our community ever since. Through decades of dedication, we’ve supported fellow veterans, uplifted local youth, and contributed to organizations that serve those who’ve worn our nation’s uniform.
Our fundraising efforts continue this tradition—fueling programs that strengthen our town, honor our heroes, and ensure that the spirit of service lives on.
We are a Veteran run not for profit organization chartered by the US Government. At American Legion Bunt-Brewer Post 165, we are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for veterans and their families. As a veteran that has been honorably discharged, you are eligible to join us and be part of our community.

Welcome to your Hometown American Legion. We want you, the full time employed family man and woman who can only spare an hour once in a while. Call us and chat about the possibilities. You've served your country with honor, now is your time to serve your community and fellow military brothers and sisters.
Join the Legion members and the community every other Tuesday at the United Methodist Church on Main St. in Tannersville. Bring your friends and enjoy a free lunch. It's a great opportunity to catch up with your neighbors and maybe even reconnect with old friends!
